As Maslow's hierarchy of needs posits, children can't learn unless their physical, mental, and emotional health is taken care of first. This encompasses everything from school lunch programs to mental health services to anti-bullying programs.
STEPS
Advocate for proper safety measures in our schools; including testing, annual clinics, etc.
Engage more closely with mental health providers, including pursuing additional funding for school psychologists
Staff education on mental health and behavior health to ensure proper interaction approaches to students and their needs
